According to the experts’ assessments, there are about 20 thousands Ukrainians who permanently or temporarily live in Turkey.
The majority of Ukrainians in Turkey are concentrated in Istanbul and Antalya.
With the help of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Turkey and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Istanbul, the Ukrainian Cultural Association was created in Istanbul in May 2008 and the organization «Ukrainian Family» was established in Antalya in June 2009.
The International Lyceum named after the most famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko works in the framework of the Ukrainian Cultural Association in Istanbul. Both Ukrainians and representatives of other nationalities who wish to get Ukrainian state certificate of education study in the Lyceum. Students of the Lyceum are taught according to the state curriculums of Ukrainian secondary schools. A great attention is paid to studying the Ukrainian language, literature and history.
