On the 25 September 2013 at the initiative of Ukraine in Ankara was held the negotiations between representatives of the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine (UZ) and the Turkish State Railways (TCDD).
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by the First Deputy Head of Transportation Department UZ Ie.Kucherenko, Turkish delegation – by the Head of Freight Department TCDD I.Çelik.
The parties presented existing in Ukraine and Turkey projects of national railways development, and also discussed the current state and prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of rail transportation.
Great attention was paid to cooperation in the framework of piggyback train "Viking". The Sides noted an active work of government authorities in both countries in the sphere of transport cooperation development between countries of Baltic and Black Sea regions.
The parties stressed the high dynamics of contacts between government agencies, emphasized hope for further development of cooperation in the field of railway transport between Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding between State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine and General Directorate of Turkish State Railways on development of cargo transportation within the Baltic Sea - Black Sea transport corridor with services of piggyback train "Viking".
