Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine made the following statement regarding prohibition for Head of the Crimean Tatar People’s Mejlis Mr. Refat Chubarov to enter the AutonomousRepublic of the Crimea.
The prohibition imposed by the Russian authorities and the self-proclaimed gangster authorities of the Crimea on Head of the Crimean Tatar People’s Mejlis Mr. Refat Chubarov that bars him from entry to his Motherland is a sentence for the Kremlin’s occupation.
From any aspect – be it the viewpoints of international law, policy or every normal human being, – such actions are the result of futile attempts to stop the public protest of the Crimean people against the lawlessness that is ruining wellbeing, security and unique identity of this land.
The Russian occupation will soon be over.
This absurd decision of the Kremlin is the result of the hateful and chauvinistic policy realized by the Russian Federation that has been continuing the Stalin’s approach to the Crimean Tatar people starting from the very beginning of its armed occupation and annexation of the Crimea.
Russia does not have any other approach towards democracy and international peace.
Under the disguise of “Russian multiethnic state” one can find the cruel face of a totalitarian political regime that suppresses any other language and culture, not to mention democratic rights and freedoms.
The prison of peoples has again shown its hostile grin.
The AutonomousRepublic of the Crimea has been, is and will remain a part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine. In compliance with the Paragraph 2 of the Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On protecting rights and freedoms of the citizens and the legal regime on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine” dated 15 April 2014, any organs, their officials and activities on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine are considered to be illegal if these organs or officials were established, elected or appointed in a way not stipulated by this Law. According to the Paragraph 3 of the Article 9 of the aforementioned Law, any act (decision, document) issued by illegal organs and / or officials is invalid and has no legal implications.
The officials of the self-proclaimed Crimean authorities who broke the Ukrainian legislation by prohibiting citizen of Ukraine Mr. Refat Chubarov to enter the territory of the AutonomousRepublic of the Crimea will be inevitably held liable according to the Ukrainian legislation.
An unfettered access to their native land must be given to Head of the Crimean Tatar People’s Mejlis Mr. Refat Chubarov and Leader of the Crimean Tatar People Mr. Mustafa Dzhemilev.
We urge the international community and all the world’s human rights organizations to condemn the actions of the Russian Federation and show its unified solidarity in order to stop the chauvinistic aggressor who is able to ruin not only regional but also global peace.
