On February 3, Ukraine and Turkey celebrated the 21st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Since the declaration of independence of Ukraine in 1991, the Ukrainian-Turkish relations have been actively developing and have reached the level of strategic partnership. In particular, the parties are engaged in a dynamic political dialogue and enjoy fruitful cooperation in the framework of international organizations and regional initiatives.
The strategic partnership allows pursuing a mutually beneficial economic policy. At present, relations between Ukraine and Turkey in the fields of trade, economy and energy are among priorities and key elements of the cooperation between the two states.
When Ukraine and Turkey established diplomatic relations in 1992, bilateral trade volume amounted to $120 million. In 1995, it surpassed $1 billion and it has reached almost $6 billion in 2012.
The lasting tradition of mutually beneficial partnership between the Ukrainian and Turkish nations, their aspirations for peace both in the region and worldwide, their dynamic economic cooperation are guarantees of successful development of the Ukrainian-Turkish relations in the future.
