On August 9, 2014 the Russian occupation authorities had prohibited entry to Crimea for the Coordinator of the Crimean New Agency QHA and Adviser of the Head of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Mr. Ismet Yuksel.
Mr. Ismet Yuksel and his family members had been unlawfully detained by representatives of the Federal Security Service of Russia at one of the checkpoints on the administrative border between mainland Ukraine and the Crimean Autonomous Republic. Without explanation of any reasons occupants had imposed a five years prohibition on entry Crimea for Mr. Ismet Yuksel.
During recent months the access to their native land was also forbidden to Head of the Crimean Tatar People’s Mejlis Mr. Refat Chubarov and Member of Ukrainian Parliament and Leader of the Crimean Tatar People Mr. Mustafa Dzhemilev.
Continuing prohibition for Crimean Tatars to visit their Motherland is the clear evidence of hateful and chauvinistic policy of Russia that is being conducted after armed occupation and annexation of the Crimea.
Due to professional journalist activities of Mr. Yuksel, the above mentioned prohibition is also to be also considered as a pressure on freedom of media and speech on the temporary occupied territory of Crimea.
Nowadays Putin’s regime continues the Soviet totalitarian approach to the Crimean Tatar People which had resulted in mass deportations and death of thousands of innocent people.
We urge the Turkish Side and the whole international community to condemn these unlawful activities of the Russian Federation and to stop the policy of discrimination and violation of rights of Crimea Tatar People.
