On April 9-10 in Ankara was held 13th Turkish International Oil & Gas (TUROGE 2014) Conference, which is considered to be one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the Eurasian region.
The event was attended by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Taner Yıldız, the Minister of Petroleum of Iraq Abdul-Kareem Luaibi Bahedh, about 200 representatives from ministries, institutions and energy companies from Turkey, Europe, the Black Sea and the Caspian region and the Middle East, Asia and the America, international organizations and research centers.
The event was dedicated to the issues of energy security in the region, including diversification of sources and routes of energy supplies to Europe, the problems of energy transportation from the Caspian and Middle Eastern sources to Europe, Turkey's role in this process, the current status of projects implemented in the region etc.
One of the main speakers at the opening of the Conference was the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey H.E. Sergiy Korsunsky with the report "Southern Gas Corridor: Expectations and Realities". In his speech the Ambassador of Ukraine performed the analysis of the geopolitical situation and the factors which contribute to the development of a regional energy market, emphasized the role of the gas pipeline projects «TANAP» and «TAP» in the creation of the Southern Gas Corridor and also grounded the central role of Ukraine as a reliable country for energy transit to EU.
