The Crimean peninsula, historical motherland of Crimean Tatars, was occupied second time by Russia on 27 February 2014. Hundreds of thousands of Crimean Tatars who had been terribly oppressed and kept under continuous pressure by Russia since the first occupation in 1783 were forced to migrate to the Ottoman territories. Crimean Tatars, who were totally deported to the Ural Mountains, Siberia and Central Asia steppes on 18 May 1944 and nearly half of whose population living in Crimea were murdered by the Russian State during the deportation and the following year, were once again faced with the Russian dictatorial regime at the very first months of 2014.
The Russian pressures towards Crimean Tatars who have been peacefully struggling for making Crimea their homeland again and improving their mosques, cemeteries and schools that had been demolished after the deportation for the last 25 years after returning to their historical land have increased day by day since this last occupation.
During the last 9 months, the pressures that have initiated by the ban on entrance into his homeland Crimea for Mr. Mustafa Abdülcemil Kırımoğlu, brave son of Crimea, the great leader of Turkish world, and famous human rights defender, continued with another entrance ban brought against the President of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Mr. Refat Çubar; the houses of prominent Crimean Tatar leaders were raided and unlawful interrogations were conducted.
The so-called Crimean administration in Crimea has not been content with such pressures against the Crimean Tatar leaders and extended these oppression and intimidation activities so as to cover all Crimean Tatar community by conducting raids against the houses of ordinary Crimean Tatar citizens.
Since the invasion, 19 Crimean young men were abducted. The corpse of Reşat Ametov, who was abducted on 03 March 2014 and apparently tortured before he was murdered, was found in an empty field on 15 March 2014. The corpse of 25 year old Edem Asanov who disappeared in Kezlev city on 29 September 2014 was found on 06 October 2014. His family was forced to declare that Edem Asanov had committed suicide.
Unlawful Russian forces in Crimea have also raided mosques and Quranic schools founded by Crimean Tatars and started to insult our religious and moral values.
As of 17 September 2014, the administrative building of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, which is the supreme representative body of the Crimean Tatar People and whose members have been democratically elected, was also raided and sealed by the armed forces of Russian administration; and documents and computers in the building were seized.
In the light of the historical facts, it would be benefical for the Government of the Republic of Turkey to start imposing serious sanctions against the expansionist policies of Russia as soon as possible, thus avoiding further problems in the future.
In this respect, our call to the Honorable Turkish Nation and the Republic of Turkey is to jointly come out againstaggressive and despotic Putin, who ignores all types of international principles and still disregards human rights and the territorial integrity of neighbouring countries in the 21st century, taking part together with the civilized world.
It is necessary to remember and remind of all these negative developments once again during the visit of Ankara of the Russian Federation President Putin who has been threatening the world peace by suddenly invading Crimea at the beginning of this year and arming the separatist terrorists in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the invasion of Crimea, Putin has continually lied by denying that the invading soldiers had been his troops and become completely untrustworthy.
All his lies, false and baseless statements on Crimea’s invasion recommend us not to ever believe in Putin who does not hesitate at all to destroy the world today and recognize any right and law and whose sayings and doings are totally inconsistent.
The Great Turkish Nation would never believe in the attempts of looking good of today’s representative of an oppressive understanding that has murdered or tortured their own fellows throughout the history.
