On 16 September 2014, the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine adopted the Law «On Ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine, on the one hand, and the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States, on the other hand». The Law was adopted by 355 parliament members.
Ratification of this Agreement marked a milestone on the road of Ukraine’s political and economic integration with the European Union and once again confirmed the Ukraine’s commitment to European integration. Ukraine, as a European state, fully shares common values of democracy and the rule of law.
Commitment of the Ukrainian leaders to every provision of the Agreement proved their strong pro-European position and their readiness to continue implementing reforms in the country according to the European standards and values.
After the ratification of the Agreement no external or internal power can influence the European course of Ukraine. Ukraine's choice of European future depends only on the Ukrainian people.
The EU fully supports these efforts of Ukraine. Such an approach is confirmed by the simultaneous ratification of the Association Agreement by the European and Ukrainian parliaments as well as by strong messages and resolute actions of European partners.
The next step of Ukraine on its way of European integration will be its full-fledged membership in the European Union.
