On the 24th of August Ukrainians all over the world celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Ukraine' s Independence.
Although it is just the 25th Anniversary, the Ukrainian Nation's history dates back to the times of Kiev Kingdom, Halichina-Volin Kingdom and the Ukrainian Cossack State.
The history of modern Ukraine started after the breakup of the Soviet Union. On the 24th of August 1991, the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of then-Soviet Ukraine proclaimed Ukraine's Independence.
Since 1991 a new generation of Ukrainians has been born and grown up. These young citizens of Ukraine have absorbed centuries-old democratic traditions of Ukraine.
Nowadays this holiday takes on special significance since Ukraine again has to protect its Independence from an aggressor who encroaches on our land. Ukraine again is suffering and losing its best sons. However, there can be no doubts that we, Ukrainians, will win a glorious victory!
Availing itself of this opportunity, Embassy of Ukraine in Ankara congratulates with the Independence Day all Ukrainians living in the Turkish Republic and all over the world!
