The Embassy of Ukraine expresses its serious concern regarding a number of illegal visits by some foreign citizens and vessels to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which took place recently.
The Ukrainian side has repeatedly underscored the impermissibility of such illegitimate visits to the sovereign territory of Ukraine, which includes the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
Ukraine considers such visits by some foreign individuals and vessels as attempts to legitimize the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol that led to numerous economic, social and humanitarian problems on the temporarily occupied Peninsula.
Such illegal visits constitute violations of the state sovereignty of Ukraine, UN Charter, UN General Assembly А/RES/68/262 “Territorial integrity of Ukraine”, Baku Declaration, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Resolutions and other norms of the international law.
In this regard, the Ukrainian side would like to remind once again to the foreign citizens and companies, including Turkish ones, paying such unlawful visits to the temporarily occupied Crimea that they will have to bear full responsibility in compliance with the norms of Ukrainian legislation and international law.
Legal visits to the temporarily occupied Crimea can be paid in accordance with the Procedure of entering and exit from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. The Turkish translation of the aforementioned Procedure can be found at the Embassy’s website at http://turkey.mfa.gov.ua/tr/consular-affairs/consular-affairs.
Ukraine would also like to take this opportunity to express once again its gratitude to the Turkish Authorities for their constant support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
