In 2018, the Russian Federation plans a number of events in the territory of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Thus, March 18 is scheduled for the presidential election and April 19-21 is scheduled for the 4th Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF).
The Russian authorities are trying to use them for international «legalization» of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol as subjects of the Russian Federation.
The Ukrainian side has repeatedly emphasized the inadmissibility of any events in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, including in the Crimea. According to this Ukrainian Side expressed a strong protest due to the intentions of their conduct by Russia, as well as serious concerns about the possibility of illegal visits of foreign citizens to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to participate in such events.
In this regard, the Embassy of Ukraine recalls that visiting the Peninsula and carrying out any political, economic or other relations with the Russian occupation administration of the Crimea are illegal, as they violate state sovereignty of Ukraine, the UN Charter, the resolution of the UN General Assembly A/RES/68/262 «Ukraine's Territorial Integrity», the Baku Declaration, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Resolution and other norms of international law, as well as provide for criminal liability.
We call for vigilance and refrain from any activity related to the occupation administration of the Crimea, as well as from participation in events held in the temporarily occupied territory of the Peninsula.
