In September 2011, Ukraine joined the international Open Government Partnership Initiative, having confirmed that it shares its main principles: providing for transparency of state governance and public involvement into state policy, fighting corruption and introducing new informational technologies.
In the first half of 2012, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine worked out the Action Plan for Implementation of the Open Government Partnership Initiative, which was presented to the participants of the Partnership Conference in Brasilia. In July 2012, the Government of Ukraine created the Coordination Council for the Implementation of the Open Government Partnership Initiative that included both state officials and representatives of the civil society.
Since that time, Ukraine has successfully implemented a number of measures directed at achieving an even higher level of openness and transparency of the Ukrainian Government’s activities. Ukraine will continue to work at further improving the standards and practices of governance, paying special attention to such spheres as increasing the level of public involvement into state policy, providing for a better access to public information, fighting corruption, improving quality of rendering administrative services, introducing technologies of electronic governance and developing electronic democracy.
The Government of Ukraine is convinced that the successful participation of our country in the Open Government Partnership Initiative will help Ukraine to become a more effective, modern and prosperous democracy.
